Celebrating Women
On August 21, 2010, the eighth Summer 2010 Women's Day Event will be held in Maryland. This is a wonderful event full of interesting, entertaining, and educational opportunities for Women. We appreciate your support in the past and hope that you will support us this year. As always, we are partnering with organizations that support women and women's issues including those that are working to find a cure for Breast Cancer, and those fighting against Domestic Violence against Women through education, research and community outreach programs. This year our donations will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Sisters4Sisters. We will also be sponsoring a Women’s Day Toiletry and New Underwear Drive working with Sisters4Sisters, Inc. to get toiletries and undergarments to those in need. Our partner for the drive is Sisters4Sisters Inc.
Women’s Day, founded in 2001, was created in response to the need for women of color to have a positive, empowering, support system. The creator, Lori Carroll, felt compelled to open her heart and home to all women interested in a positive outlet to relax, share, encourage and celebrate themselves. It is a quarterly event created to just bring women together for a positive and empowering, fun filled day.
The Event’s purpose is to empower, encourage and inform Women. The goals are to support and uplift women, create networking opportunities, provide information on issues/topics impacting Women and arm them with the tools necessary to succeed. Education, training and self sufficiency are encouraged.
Sharing and empowering has been the platform that sustains this special event. Encouragement and support of women during good times and challenging times is the basis of our bond. There is a great Sisterhood between all that attend.
The mission is to bring women together in order to make a Difference.
We continue to successfully accomplish our mission.
More than 100 women ages 18 to 60+ (mostly professional women of color) are expected to attend.
